quad on USC campus

This half-day hybrid symposium serves as a collaborative forum bringing together leading experts, researchers, and advocates in obesity prevention. Join us for insightful discussions and presentations that will explore the current gaps in research, focusing on the intersection of multiple health risk behaviors and their impact on obesity.

The symposium is open to:

  • Individuals interested in obesity prevention
  • Individuals working with individuals and families in promoting wellness
  • Individuals working in community-based or public health organizations
  • USC faculty, postdoctoral fellows, scientists, predoctoral students and others working or interested in obesity prevention research

Our goal is to inspire innovation and foster collaboration that will drive future NIH and foundation-funded projects and advance the field of obesity prevention. This symposium is a valuable opportunity to connect with fellow researchers, identify research gaps, and collaborate on projects that can impact the future of health-related outcomes.

Dr. Judi Hollis, author of the best seller FAT IS A FAMILY AFFAIR, after entering USC’s counseling program in 1970 went on to create obesity treatment programs and materials while promoting 12 step recovery in countless media outlets. She has spent her professional career offering new approaches promoting family therapy coupled with community-based programs. To that end, this event unites collaborations between medical interventions and psychological approaches to foster prevention alternatives for families. She continues writing and presenting and can be reached through www.judihollis.com.
